We got our LSC on Friday! This is the letter from China stating they have approved us to adopt Judd (Long Shan) and seeking confirmation that we still want to adopt him. We have been waiting and praying for this for weeks now, but it seemed to stall out behind a traffic jam of paperwork and offices closed for Chinese New Year. We expected the LSC to take two to six weeks. It took twelve. A long twelve. But it’s here now.
We signed it and shipped it off to the USCIS processing center within an hour. So the process is moving again. Now we shift to USCIS immigration paperwork and Chinese travel paperwork. We hope to be travelling in May, unless we hit another paperwork traffic jam.
The thought I keep having is how Judd still knows nothing about our family, our excitement about him, anything about us. We pray for him and talk about him daily. We have his room ready. Heck, Anne waited most of the day watching for the FedEx man to roll up with an envelope. Judd knows little more than the foster home he lives in, let alone a massive world out there with four people who will soon be his family on the other side of it. Hopefully that will change soon.
With the LSC, we also can send him a care package with pictures of us, cameras for them to take pictures of his life and friends, and a blanket and stuffed animal that he can take with him through this life-changing transition. It’s not much, but it’s more than we’ve been able to yet do.
We are so thankful to get this letter, so thankful for all of you who have helped us raise a couple thousand dollars through our t-shirt sales, and so thankful for your prayers. Pray that the next round of paperwork (USCIS Form i800) takes a month to be processed, which is the goal, though it could take longer. We’ll keep you posted.
